My design practice centers on producing book projects, as well as a range of visual communication materials. The studio is home to my ever-expanding collection of books, antique ephemera, packaging and found photography. I believe it’s important to have at least one good idea a day. Collaboration is always encouraged. Learn more about my process in each project description and also check out examples from my photography collection while you’re at it.

Jill von Hartmann is a graphic designer specializing in book design—from concept to visual and editorial content; design, production and delivery. Her work includes print projects for non-profit organizations, rock bands, art galleries, museums and the entertainment industry. Collaboration is always welcome and encouraged. Each project is approached with curiosity, stylistic versatility, intuition—and a lot of experience. Her studio in Pasadena, CA is home to a library of books (old and new), antique ephemera, anything good luck related, as well as souvenirs from many lifetimes. She has been an avid collector of vintage snapshots for decades, with an ever-expanding archive of early 20th century through 21st century anonymous photographs and photo albums. Learn more about her process in each project description and check out some examples of the photography collection while you’re at it.
